Preventative health screenings promote wellness and save lives. As such, Shoals Community Clinic, in partnership with UNA Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions, will be hosting its annual Community Health Fair on Monday, October 13th, from 9am-2pm.
Free flu shots will be available, along with screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol (with 6 hour fasting prior to testing), diabetes and pre-diabetes (also with 6 hour fasting prior to testing), respiratory function, vision, and hearing. In addition, there will be many vendors on hand to provide information about important services available to help meet needs for a happy and healthy community. UNA students will be distributing non-perishable food items to participants as supplies last.
Regular health screenings and vaccinations prevent the onset of more serous disease. Chronic conditions, such as high blood pressure and diabetes, are frequently missed in general health visits, and can become life threatening, if left unchecked and untreated.
The annual Community Health Fair is FREE to the entire community and will be held at the Shoals Community Clinic, located at 309-B WC Handy Place in Florence. For more information, please, contact the clinic at (256) 760-4713.
